‘Interdisciplinary Perspectives on the Wellbeing and Rights of Children and Young People on the Island of Ireland’

Children and young people’s wellbeing is influenced by a wide range of factors, including poverty, housing, education, family circumstances, and community environments. 

These factors influence the opportunities and challenges that children and young people face as they grow. However, they are underpinned by children's rights such as to education, to play and to have their voices heard. In Ireland and Northern Ireland, addressing these factors is critical for tackling persistent inequalities, ensuring rights and enabling all children and young people to thrive.

This conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to share new evidence, discuss innovative interventions, and highlight examples of best practice across the island of Ireland, from multidisciplinary perspectives. With a focus on equity and collaboration, the event aims to create a space where evidence can directly inform practice and policy, helping to improve outcomes for children and young people. Abstracts will be accepted from a range of disciplines, including (but not limited to):

• Child health and wellbeing

• Children's rights and participation

• Child poverty, housing, and economic inequality

• Education & academic achievement

• Children in care & family support; mental health & wellbeing

• Parenting & family dynamics
